Being part of an international team means navigating different time zones, cultures, and languages. Matilde and I often joke about the dinner time that the Germans in the team have. As a Venezuelan living in France and pursuing a career in law with a focus on international law, she has found her place in the global MUN community. Through mymun, she works with organizers and delegates from around the world, helping to make international conferences run smoothly and accessible to everyone.

Edu and I go far back. Our story begins in the slightly chaotic corridors of EuroMUN, where I was part of the marketing team and he was trying to navigate the spheres of diplomacy. But Edu’s journey didn´t end in Maastricht. He carried that spark to LeiMUN, then to MUNSA, IEUMUN, and beyond. “I never got the chance to participate in MUNs during  high school,” Edu confessed. “It all started at university, as part of the Leiden Model United Nations Foundation. At first, I wasn’t eloquent; I was just trying to find my voice. But step by step, I learned how to stand up, prepare, and claim my space.”

You are probably reading this article, and all the others on our blog, not thanks to me, but thanks to Alex K. He is the one who has to read my spelling mistakes, propose new ways to say the word diplomacy, and occasionally question my journalism choices (in the nicest way possible) before each post goes live.  

When I say “finance,” I’m not talking about Bitcoin or Wall Street. I mean the real numbers that keep Model United Nations running behind the scenes. I’ve seen firsthand how crucial that role is, and Josue, former treasurer of Leiden MUN, knows it better than anyone. His journey from political science student in Leiden to master’s in political economy at UVA ( Universiteit van Amsterdam) is the kind of story that shows how MUN shapes more than just debate skills.
