As a cornerstone of the United Nations, ECOFIN seeks to tackle the root causes of global financial instability and guide economic decision-making in a complex geopolitical landscape. Sustainable development, regulating macroeconomic aspects, and addressing environmental threats are among the primary concerns of this body (and its subsidiaries). All 193 delegations to the UN meet annually, taking into account global economic tendencies, as well as humanitarian, geopolitical, and environmental impacts. Every conflict, policy, or strategy has effects on the lives of all, in an increasingly globalized context.

The Security Council takes the lead in determining whether a threat to the peace or an act of aggression exists. It calls upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and recommends methods of adjustment or terms of settlement. In some cases, the Security Council can resort to imposing sanctions or even authorize the use of force to maintain or restore international peace and security.

    About the committee

The Historical Council tackles geopolitical issues and tensions which happened prior to the establishment of the United Nations Security Council, immersing delegates in the historical context of these events. By delving deep into the root causes and complexities of historical diplomacy, delegates gain a deeper and more profound understanding of history, geopolitics, what it means to be a diplomat and what it means to be thrust into a scenario where you have to think quickly and on the spot. As a delegate, you'll have to write treaties, plans and agreements, as well as debate and get your point across. Nonetheless, we are preparing lots for you, esteemed explorers and conquerors. Through your strategies and "mind" games, you will be able to go beyond all limits and realms and truly shape the world.

    CRISIS

    Topic

    Battle of Troy

    About the committee

The CRISIS Committee acts as a decision-making body and has more power than a typical committee. While the General Assembly's committees make recommendations and promote consensus, with a focus on creating and improving mechanisms for member countries to coordinate their actions, CRISIS committees come up with prompt, decisive actions to deal with urgent emergencies. This denotes that the CRISIS committee has complete control over its affairs and that all decisions made within this committee are final. The typical roles of a MUN committee are suspended during a CRISIS, allowing delegates to represent any nation, person, group, or organization from any historical period. It is essential to have a thorough understanding of the historical era and the specific role that your character plays within that setting to be adequately prepared for the crisis. Time will not be your main concern during the conference, as it will be perceived subjectively and in accordance with the committee's decisions.
