Beyond GDP. Beyond Today.

The EMERGE-CBU Model United Nations National Conference 2027 is a national platform bringing together secondary school and university students from across Zambia to explore the challenges shaping our world and the kind of future we want to build.

Held under the theme “Beyond GDP: Redefining Global Progress for People, Planet, and Prosperity,” the conference challenges participants to look beyond economic growth as the sole measure of progress. Delegates will examine how development can be understood through human well-being, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, technological innovation, peace, equality, and shared prosperity.

Over three days in Kitwe, participants will step into the roles of diplomats, policymakers and representatives of Member States and international organisations. Through committee sessions, moderated debate, negotiation, research and resolution writing, delegates will engage with complex global issues while developing practical skills in public speaking, critical thinking, diplomacy, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving.

The conference is designed for both experienced MUN delegates and first-time participants. It provides a space where young people at different stages of their academic journey can learn from one another, exchange ideas and discover the power of constructive dialogue.

More than a simulation, the EMERGE-CBU Model United Nations National Conference 2027 is an opportunity to ask a fundamental question:

If economic growth is not the whole story of progress, what should progress look like?

Join us in Kitwe as we move beyond numbers, beyond conventional measures and beyond the status quo — placing people, planet and prosperity at the centre of the conversation about our shared future.

Rise. Lead. Transform.
