VANUN 2027 — Vanguard Model United Nations

VANUN 2027 is an online Model United Nations conference designed to bring together ambitious delegates from around the world for an engaging simulation of international diplomacy, debate, and decision-making.

In a world shaped by conflict, political tensions, economic uncertainty, and rapidly evolving global challenges, diplomacy has never been more important. VANUN 2027 provides delegates with the opportunity to step into the roles of diplomats and policymakers, represent their assigned countries or figures, and confront complex issues through negotiation, debate, and resolution writing.

Our conference aims to create a competitive yet welcoming environment where both experienced MUN participants and newcomers can develop their public speaking, research, negotiation, leadership, and crisis-management skills.

Delegates will be challenged to think beyond prepared speeches. They will have to adapt, negotiate, build alliances, defend their positions, and make decisions under pressure.

Whether you are attending your first MUN or are an experienced delegate, VANUN 2027 is an opportunity to test your diplomacy, challenge your perspective, and experience the pressure of international decision-making.

    About the committee

🇮🇷🇮🇱 Iran–Israel Regional Escalation The Middle East stands at a critical crossroads as escalating tensions between Iran and Israel threaten to develop into a wider regional conflict. With missile and drone attacks, military operations, nuclear concerns, and the involvement of regional and global powers, the stability of the region and the security of millions remain at stake. In this UNSC committee, delegates will assume the roles of members of the United Nations Security Council and confront a rapidly developing security crisis. Delegates will be required to balance national interests with international law, negotiate with opposing blocs, respond to emerging developments, and work toward a realistic resolution capable of preventing further escalation. With the possibility of military retaliation, diplomatic breakdown, attacks on critical infrastructure, and involvement from external powers, every decision may carry significant consequences.

    About the committee

DISEC — The Future of Warfare: Regulating Autonomous Weapons and Artificial Intelligence in Armed Conflict Topic Description: The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence and autonomous weapons systems is transforming the nature of modern warfare. Weapons capable of identifying, tracking, and engaging targets with limited or no direct human intervention raise serious questions surrounding international security, accountability, and the laws governing armed conflict. The Disarmament and International Security Committee must address the growing risks posed by autonomous weapons while balancing technological advancement with the need to prevent destabilization and unintended escalation. Delegates will be challenged to develop realistic international frameworks governing the development, deployment, and use of AI-powered military systems. The committee will debate international regulations, human oversight requirements, arms-control mechanisms, accountability for autonomous attacks, and measures to prevent an AI-driven arms race. Key Issues: Regulation of autonomous weapons systems Human control over lethal military decisions AI-driven arms races Accountability for autonomous attacks International arms-control mechanisms Development and proliferation of military AI Preventing unintended escalation The central question: How can the international community regulate autonomous weapons and military AI without allowing technological competition to undermine global security?
