Omnia iusta sunt Amore Belloque

Taylor’s Lakeside Model United Nations (TLMUN) Conference 2025

Date: 24th – 26th October 2025
Venue: Taylor’s Lakeside Campus
Participants: ~290 (200 delegates, 20 chairs, 20 observers, 10 guests, 40 secretariat members)

Taylor’s Lakeside Model United Nations (TLMUN) Conference is an annual convention that unites delegates from around the world. Each participant represents a country in a United Nations council or committee, working to solve pressing global issues through comprehensive resolutions.

Model United Nations is an educational simulation that conventionally extends up to three days. It seeks to familiarize delegates with the mechanisms of the United Nations in tackling crises, while honing skills in diplomacy, international relations, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

This year’s conference aims not only to provide a platform for high-quality debate and excellent learning experiences, but also to encourage delegates to recognize the crosswords humanity faces in 2025. Guided by our mission to empower the Malaysian MUN scene, TLMUN strives to confront pressing global challenges while ridding itself of deadweight in this beloved world of ours.

Our slogan, “Omnia iusta sunt Amore Belloque” (“All’s Fair in Love and War”), highlights the essence of politics and international relations. It reminds delegates that intense competition, strategic manoeuvring, and high-stakes diplomacy often push participants to bold, sometimes unconventional tactics. While extreme situations may compel actions beyond traditional boundaries, such actions are not always justified.

This event welcomes participants from institutions across Malaysia and around the world. Together, let us embrace diversity with open arms, engage in thoughtful and respectful dialogue, and promote peace, justice, and prosperity beyond the boundaries of nationality, ethnicity, and ideology.

    About the committee

“… its Members confer on the Security Council primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security …” — Article 24(1) of the UN Charter Established on the 24th of October, 1945, by the UN Charter following the end of the Second World War, the United Nations Security Council serves to maintain international peace and security. It is the highest decision-making body in the United Nations, serving as the only authority capable of using force and issuing binding resolutions to counteract threats to international peace and security. The Security Council consists of 5 permanent members (known as “the P5”), namely China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. These countries also possess veto power, capable of rejecting all forms of substantive resolutions. The remaining ten are elected by the General Assembly for two-year terms at staggered intervals. Members of the Security Council are perpetually ready to convene year-round, having a representative stationed at the headquarters of the United Nations at all times for emergency meetings. Since its formation, its various members have voted to pass over 2500 resolutions, surrounding a myriad of global concerns. In addition to its binding nature, the Security Council is also authorised to deploy peacekeepers where armed conflicts have ceased. The United Nations itself does not maintain its military; member nations provide troops voluntarily. Aftermath of the Yugoslav Collapse (1992)

    About the committee

"If you saw what I see for the future in Yugoslavia, it would scare you." — Josip Broz Tito, 1971 The Cold War was over, and the Soviet Union was no more. However, theirs would not be the only union to collapse. After years of discourse and neglect, Yugoslavia has collapsed under its own weight, leaving in its place multiple states based on historically-ethnic lines. All is not well, as tensions continue to rise between the young states, and remnants of the Belgrade Regime seek the reunification of the multi-ethnic state. Outside the Balkans, other nations and factions watch on, eager to contain the unfolding powderkeg... Or to take advantage of it. There is unlikely to be a lingering peace, but it is not impossible. The future is the sum of all actions taken in the present, and the actions taken during these circumstances are bound to be crucial for the fate of this region and its future. Will the former Yugoslav states manage to, against all odds, find common ground and resolve their differences? Or will they be forced to the limits of desperation and depravity? You decide.
