Press Corps in Model UN

A press corps, often called the International Press Corps (IPC), is the conference's newsroom: its delegates are journalists who report on the other committees and write for a conference publication. Each writes for a named outlet, such as Reuters or Al Jazeera, in its style and political line, and editors review their pieces. Press conferences let them question delegates directly.

Press Corps in Model UN: quick answers

How many delegates are in a press corps?

Organizers choose how many journalists and outlets to seat, so the size varies by conference. Press corps simulations on mymun filled about 9 seats.

What does a press corps delegate do?

A press delegate reports on the other committees: they sit in on debates, interview delegates and publish articles, photos or videos. Coverage takes the view of the outlet the delegate represents.

Is a press corps good for beginners?

Yes, if you like to write: press delegates draft no resolutions and argue over no amendments, because their job is reporting. One press delegate's account tells what covering a diplomatic crisis is like.

How is a press corps different from other committees?

It votes on nothing: press delegates move between the other committees, write to deadlines their editors set and question delegates at press conferences, and their output is articles, not resolutions.
